Take it to the dry cleaner and point out the spot that needs extra attention. They usually have a few different stain removers for different types of stain and it isnt any more expensive.

If the garment is a dry clean only it should be taken to the dry cleaners to have the stain removed. I would mark the stain and have them remove this for you.

They have special products that they use on this type of material. If you try this yourself it could damage your garment.

You don't mention if the suit is wool or not. If it is wool, try a few drops of white vinegar on a clean white cloth or towel and rub gently in a corner of the stain to see if the stain starts to come up.

Don't let the stained area touch any other part of the piece or when it gets wet it can bleed through and cause another stain.

Sometimes it takes a few times of the vinegar and very, very gentle rubbing to get it out...but for wool it usually works.

If the coffee had creamer in it, it may not...that is the one caveat.

I am very messy so this happens to me all the time. The only bad thing is you may want to run it through a dryer on air with a dryer sheet or one of those dryer dry cleaning refreshers when you are done or you may smell like the vinegar part of salad dressing when it is clean :)

I don't have much luck getting stains out on other dry clean only materials...like silk or silk blends. Maybe someone else can share a good method for that bad mix of coffee and fabric.

Question: Stain on Cotton Dry Clean Only Jacket?

August 10, 2015

I have a pale pink cotton Guess jacket. So I left it alone for a bit and when I came back coffee or pop or something like that was spilled all over my coat. This was a couple of months ago and I need this stain to come out! The thing is, that my dry cleaners doesn't ensure that they can get the stain out so I want to know if it will be able to come out before taking it there.

If anyone can help that would be great or any at home remedies even though it is dry clean. Please help.

You need a new dry cleaner. Find one that guarantees they can get it out or you don't pay the money.

I recommend you take it back to your dry cleaners and tell them to blot the stain with Streetan and dry it out with their spotting gun and then throw it in the dry cleaning machine.another thing you can try at home yourself is go get yourself a bottle of Awesome you can pick it up at the dollar store spraying the area with awesome and blot it with a damp cloth feathering the end so it doesn't make a ring and then dry it out with a blow dryer do not drinch the garments with awesome or water though because it will leave a ring.

Step 1
Select the appropriate stain remover. You stain is yellow so this could a protein stain. You will need clear dishwashing detergent. Don't use colored detergents because they can add color to your stain.

Step 2
Apply the clear dishwashing detergent to the stain. Rub around on the stain.

Step 3
Blot the stain with a clean cloth.

Step 4
Continue to repeat steps 2 and 3 until the stain is removed.

Step 5
Once your stain is removed, lay the garment flat on a table and allow it to dry.
